Job Description
1 DESCRIPTION
Eastgate Software Singapore is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to work on-site with our client, SP Group, a leading energy utilities group in Singapore. You will own the end-to-end quality engineering capability for delivery, from test strategy and automation through integration, non-functional testing, release assurance and production-quality improvement.
This is an official, full-time position with Eastgate Software Singapore, starting with an initial 1-year on-site assignment at SP Group.
The role provides independent, evidence-based assurance that SP-developed and vendor-delivered capabilities, spanning cloud services, event-driven integrations, IoT devices and energy market workflows, are fit for operational use and supportable for Day 2.
2 RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the quality engineering strategy, test architecture, quality gates and assurance plan.
- Translate business, market, operational, security and technical requirements into traceable acceptance criteria, test scenarios and measurable release-readiness evidence.
- Design and maintain a risk-based test approach covering platform deployment and operational-management capabilities.
- Build and maintain automated tests across the test pyramid: unit-enablement standards, API and contract tests, component and integration tests, UI tests and end-to-end business-flow tests.
- Validate cross-system and event-driven behaviour, including message sequencing, retries, duplicate handling, timeouts, degraded dependencies, data reconciliation and recovery from partial failures.
- Design test harnesses, simulators, stubs and representative datasets for external systems, IoT devices and distributed energy resources that are unavailable or unsafe for routine testing.
- Lead system integration testing and end-to-end validation across SP-developed and vendor-delivered components, Azure services, enterprise integrations and operational technology interfaces.
- Define and execute non-functional tests (performance, load, scalability, soak, resilience, failover, backup and restore, recovery, security and observability) with DevSecOps and SRE.
- Validate market and control workflows using deterministic scenarios, including bid creation, submission outcomes, dispatch/control instruction processing, asset response, telemetry feedback, exception handling and revenue/settlement reconciliation.
- Establish data-quality controls and tests for completeness, accuracy, timeliness, duplication, transformation and lineage across telemetry, asset, bidding and revenue data flows.
- Embed automated tests and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines with clear failure diagnostics, test evidence, defect traceability and release criteria.
- Lead defect triage, severity assessment, root-cause analysis and verification of permanent corrective actions; identify recurring defect patterns and drive preventive improvements.
- Provide independent release recommendations based on entry/exit criteria, residual risk, test evidence, known limitations and operational readiness; escalate material quality risks early.
- Work with product owners, planners, infrastructure, cybersecurity, vendors and engineers to resolve ambiguity and engineer quality into delivery rather than inspecting it only at the end.
